Pawsitive Progress: Emma’s Journey Home

Emma came to Maryville with a simple but meaningful goal, to regain her independence and make it back home to her kitty. At the start of her journey, everyday tasks that once felt simple had become challenging. Getting out of bed, standing safely, and moving around on her own were all things Emma was determined to overcome. Along the way, she faced a few unexpected setbacks, but she never lost sight of the reason she was working so hard—returning to the life and companion waiting for her at home.

Emma always had a positive attitude that kept her and her therapy team moving forward throughout her recovery. She brought a smile to every challenge, connected with everyone around her, and quickly became a favorite among staff and fellow residents. Whether she was sharing a laugh or inviting others to join her puzzles, Emma’s kindness, quick wit, and determination made her journey special.

That determination from Emma eventually got her to a point where she could:

• Get in and out of bed independently with renewed strength
• Move around her room and hallways safely with her walker
• Complete her daily activities with greater independence

While the team will miss seeing her smile every day, they couldn’t be happier knowing Emma is back home with the companion who motivated her every step of the way.
