Rooting for Recovery

"I am so grateful for the staff that helped me get back to my fruit trees and garden!" George

The strongest roots are often the ones waiting at home. For George, that meant family, fruit trees, and a garden worth working toward.

George came to us after complications from congestive heart failure with one goal in mind: get back home to his family, fruit trees, and garden. As a former weightlifter and lifelong athlete, George knew recovery would take hard work, but he was ready for the challenge.

His determination showed from day one. For George, every step in therapy was another step back to the garden. That clear goal kept him focused from the day he arrived until the day he returned home.

With support from his therapy team, George made remarkable progress throughout his recovery, allowing him to:

  • Safely transfer and walk on a variety of surfaces with his four-wheel walker
  • Strengthen his balance through stepping strategies for everyday mobility
  • Develop fall recovery skills and a home exercise routine to support his continued progress

George’s lifelong work ethic carried him through this challenge. Today, he’s back home doing what he loves most—spending time with family and tending to the fruit trees and garden that kept him motivated every step of the way.
