What started as a long road to recovery became a journey back to independence. With determination and support from her therapy team, Bette rebuilt her strength and returned home three months later.

Bette came to Fairfield Village after a long hospital stay that followed an already difficult battle with cancer, leaving her feeling weak, in pain, and needing significant help with everyday tasks. After months away from home, even simple movements and self-care felt out of reach at the start of her recovery.

With support from physical and occupational therapists Jennie and Cammy, Bette focused on rebuilding strength, progressing day by day from needing assistance with transfers to greater independence. Therapy sessions centered on safe transfers, functional movement, standing tolerance, walking, and regaining independence with everyday self-care tasks.

Their help led Bette to:

• Move from full assistance to safely getting around with much less help
• Reduce fear and rebuild trust in her own ability
• Return to walking and managing daily routines with only minimal help

 

Through the patience and perseverance from Bette and the therapy team, she was able to return home three months later!
